It has been a while since I updated my blog. I plan to do it more, although I regularly post photos to facebook (James Ratzloff). After a year I am getting used to retirement, and do plenty of walking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, gardening, and dancing Thursday through Sunday.I also started leasing a horse, and enjoy riding him all over Chatfield State Park. Sometimes I have to pinch myself that this is really my life now.

I finished my 10th year of storytelling, and am looking forward to starting again next September. Last year I did 20 classes per month, and expect to do the same next school year. It is really quite an adventure to find a young person's book that I want to summarize into a story. My favorite this last school year was a two month telling of 'The Girl Who Drank the Moon' by Kelly Barnhill. I have been thinking I might return to a couple of my all time favorites next school year - 'The Island of the Blue Dolphins' by Scott O Dell and 'The Call of the Wild' by Jack London.

Tricia sometimes accompanies me camping, hiking, backpacking, and kayaking - a joy shared is that much greater. Tricia and I like the same things - walking, and the outdoors.
